I received a message that you sent ME a DM; however, there is nothing showing up in my inbox. When I click my email message it keeps taking me to goo to download the substack app to converse. I really try to keep my apps to a minimum bc of goo. I thought you could just send a message here on the website??? I'll check my settings.

I have found just the opposite wrt money in banks, or even credit unions; when the money is in hand, I can see how much I have and I spend it less. When its out of sight and out of mind, ie in the bank, I tend to spend more. Just me, I guess. Plus, the bank or cu can suddenly be unavailable, due to them turning it into digi money or simply electronic systems failure. Cash in hand is the only way to play imo.

Perhaps you one of the few, the intelligent, the beautiful unindoctrinated people. Bless you.

Thanks for a nice story of the "good old days". I suppose most of it could be achievable today, albeit with much more discipline and effort. Although with mortgage rates of 12% or more, today's 7.5 or 8% is a breeze. The big difference between back then and today include having friends and relatives with some financial knowledge, lots of common sense, and working ambition. Today's younger generations have been brainwashed into believing that Big Government will take care of you and your needs. The youngsters today were not raised with the common sense and money knowledge we benefitted from. Certainly the school systems today teach little that will prepare young adults to actually function in the real world. Sorrowfully, most kids today are uneducated and without the ambition to improve themselves. Unfortunately, many young folk will read your fine piece and think-- Nice fairy tale.

Yes, I must say - I am in total agreement and have been touting this, beyond years! Yet, those whom I have made this statement, are in absolute denial. They believe themselves to be invincible and impervious to the out comes of being free, clear n clean of the wrath. Funny, I hear people say they "OWN" their place - No, they do not understand the terminology of the verbiage of the word OWN! Although, they feel they are somehow, more important, better than most, privileged; Having the right and the means to go out to dinner 7xs a week (FULL WAIT STAFF), buy more boats, have more children, eat more crap or own more real-estate. These fookin dipshites, aint got nuttin, but sorrow ahead of themselves (key word)!!!

Good read and advice.

The plan is to erase the middle class so there’s just the elite and the rest of us slaves on Universal Income, which will be next to nothing. “We will own nothing and be happy”.

Thanks for the share, Dean; I enjoyed hearing about your life. I WAS debt free until someone did a 'hit-and-run on my sweet 1999 Rav4 2 years ago. I miss that car so much!

Drove from the midwest back to GA to get a car that a friend had put on so many new parts. Turns out, everything that wasnt replaced needed it and every other week or month I was working on that car. Had to take out a credit card to replace a bunch of front end stuff, which I'm suspect. After spending 1500.00 of that CC, the transmission went out, so I threw in the towel. I drove all the way to GA so that I wouldn't have to deal with some shyster used car salesman. Well, since I had to buy another used car, turns out I ended up getting ripped off anyway! Nice looking family dealership sold me a $10,000 Florida Hurricane FLOOD car!!! Can't find any pro-bono or contingency attorneys, no legal aid....zero. So now I'm $12-13,000 in debt again in my 60's and having serious hip issues when I was totally debt free for years. 🤦🏽‍♀️🙄🤷🏽‍♀️ Love this planET! 😤

Beautiful article, Mr. Henderson! I enjoyed reading it. “…if you live like no one lives now, you will live like no one lives later”.
