Nah! So not true! Same old, same old feudal Lords: "Might makes right" trope; "No such thing as law," trope. Just false, self-justifying, criminal tropes.
Because? Because, they don't want to be prosecuted. And they want to eliminate anyone with a conscience. Damned witnesses, right? Can't have witnesses to this or that mass murder, mass rape, mass theft.
Not so "New" Age after all. Just some bullies, well-funded with the proceeds of inter-generational theft.
